GRANT LUHRS & THE CHOOK RAFFLE BAND
He has been twice nominated for a Golden Guitar, has an ARIA nomination to his credit, a No.1 single and has appeared on Festivals throughout Australia and Overseas.
Grant Luhrs is a survivor in the Country Music industry with his first single released in 1981.
That first single, Let’s Get A Cow, has since been recorded by a variety of performers including Chad Morgan, Lester Coombes, The Victorian Police Band and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra!
Grant first came to prominence in the mid-80’s as one half of the duo Luhrs & Crawford.
Their 1990 release, Midnight In Paradise, is regarded by many as one of the best albums of that year. Many still regard it as one of the finest country music albums to have been released in this country.
It is his 1997 comedy single, Nude Bootscootin’, that Grant is perhaps best know for.
Off the hilarious album, You Gotta Laugh, Nude Bootscootin’, spent a number of weeks at No. 1, was taken off the air by one radio station and became Ian McNamara’s (ABC Radio Australia All Over) 1997 Song of the Year.
Grant does have a serious side though with songs such as Two Old Ladies Dancing, Matilda and Stealing My Heart stand outs off his extensive catalogue.
Currently in production is an album of love songs featuring covers of classics such as John Paul Young’s Love Is in the Air, The Fleetwood Mac gem, Say That You Love Me, the Beatles’ Norwegian Wood and Slim Dusty’s Camooweal among others.
Grant, with his long-time band of Pete Tiller, Colin Anderson and Geoff Bell, has played at most of Australia’s major Country Music Festivals and recently returned from the International Folk Songs Arts Festival in Nanning, China.
